Walking on just laid material is undesirable. If you are a do it yourselfer you can move the rolls to the roof by yourself or with the assistance of a partner no machinery required. At above left is an example of an awkward roof hatch access onto a walk on low slope roofing. Attach drip edge along the edge of the roof with roofing cement.

Typically a flat roof is a low sloping roof with a maximum 10 degrees of pitch or usually having a slope of up to 3 inches per linear foot for adequate drainage. Place the first layer of rolled roofing on the roof.
