As such roof leaks from rainfall or melting snow condensation resulting from temperature fluctuations and or leaky pipes can give mold the moisture it needs to thrive in attics.
White spots on wood in attic.
Attic ambering refers to wooden beams in the attic having sap leak out.
The mold usually appears first as small dust like white spots.
White mold tends to grow in high humidity environments rather than areas suffering from total saturation.
Attics contain plenty of food sources for mold including wood and insulation.
Stain fungi is an aesthetic problem decay fungi damages the wood and mold fungi can be cleaned or removed.
This means it is possible for moldy attic air to enter livable spaces from the attic and affect the health of the occupants.
White mold in attics.
This is why it s less common to see mold growth on base trim after a flooding event.
Water and mold problems in the attic can deteriorate wood in the roof sheathing joists etc.
If you let the mold grows it can become bigger white blotches and even into fiber like component if the mold colony grows too large.

White mold on wood when you see white spots on wood they are almost certainly white mold since efflorescence cannot appear on wood.
The attic should be dry in the summer because the heat from the roof drives moisture to the inside of the home or out through the roof vents.
The moisture humidity could be coming from the bathroom vent fan as you indicated this is the vicinity of the white stains.
When looking for attic mold trace both leak areas and areas of poor ventilation in the attic.
The sap when in live trees carries nutrients throughout the tree that helps to keep it alive.
Mold problems are indications of water problems.
Similarly when a tree is damaged the sap can bleed out.
Attic sheathing and framing.
The vast majority of attic mold is caused by humidity which is why white mold growth is common here.
Both of these indicates water seemly seeping in around the nails or very high humidity inside the attic and the water droplets are condensing onto the cooler nails and leaching into the wood sheathing.
